Governmental Advocacy:

My professional advocacy efforts have been significant for both business and non-profit entities.

Advocacy activities have included volunteer efforts on behalf of the American Cancer Society (ACS), and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) to obtain passage of federal and state policy, legislation, and support of funding for anti-cancer programs. These were non-partisan, non-profit efforts to try to improve the lives of everyone. These efforts started before my personal experience with cancer in 2004. And from 2012 through 2019, I served as the State Lead Ambassador for ACS CAN Michigan, leading a team of 14 representatives to each of the Michigan Congressional Districts along with dozens of individual ambassadors throughout Michigan.

On behalf of clients, I have also provided oral and written testimony pertaining to copyright registration procedures, damage remedies and orphan works issues before the Register of Copyrights and the US Senate.

I have also contacted or coordinated contact by clients with legislators and administrators regarding photo industry issues involving sales tax legislation and regulations, exclusive school photographer contracts with local school districts, and environmental regulations. Those activities have occurred in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas,  Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington (state), West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Australia, and Canada (federal and Ontario province).
